The Ironman 70.3 Calgary race is this Sunday, July 23rd. I’ve posted the complete race weekend schedule below.
In addition, it’s always a great idea to get into the swim venue ahead of race day to swim a portion or all of the course to get “the lay of the land”.
Athletes can get into Auburn Bay this week for ONE prep swim between Monday July 17 and Friday July 21 between 9am – 10pm. Main swim buoys will be in the water on the 17th and you will need your ID to access the lake. Note: You CAN’T do a practice swim on Saturday!
Water temp is around 21C. Wetsuits allowed but not required if the temperature remains around the same.
Also of note, this year with the new bike and run course, there is only 1 transition. Consequently there are some new parking rules. Racers and spectators should plan accordingly!
It’s going to be warm and ☀️! Current forecasts predict about 12C at the start and 25C by noon. Don’t forget to apply your sunscreen – especially to that slice of skin on your low back that often is exposed when riding in aero position.
