This week I attended a lecture by Dr. Angela Pucci on gut health and was reminded how our often stressful lifestyles including balancing training and work and families can contribute to an unhealthy gut. The good news is that we can make changes! Food sensitivity testing can be the first step in figuring out what you might need to change to start feeling better.
Diet plays a big role in establishing gut health and supporting the good bacteria in your personal micro-biome. If you don’t have a healthy gut, undigested food particles and pathogens can leak through weakened tight junctions in the gut and activate the immune system, causing inflammation and food sensitivities.
The hour long talk was very enlightening. If you are interested in this topic she will be repeating her healthy gut lecture in the new year.
Dr. Angela’s ‘Better Health’ lectures are free with a donation at the door going to The Alex organization whose health, housing and food programs support Calgarians in need.
Lectures are the last Wednesday of each month. A list of upcoming topics can be found here: Cadence Sport Therapy Lecture Series
Hope to see you out at the next lecture!
