Couple of races this weekend – near and far!
Locally, the Wild Rose Triathlon run by Tri-It Multisport took place this morning and Melody M had a super race! Her hard work paid off today with her AGE GROUP WIN in the Try a Tri event! Congrats Melody!!
Out east was IM 70.3 Mont Tremblant. Team in Training duo Steph & Connor made this their first 70.3 event. They had great races and really enjoyed the course. I have heard great things about the 70.3 and Full Ironman events here. LYNX might have to get a group together to tackle this event in the future!
Also this weekend was IM 70.3 Coeur D’alene. Ken T used the race to prep for the full IM there at the end of August. He had a good day in the 34C temperature!!! He said his swim felt good and realized after the fact that there was a pesky current. He was conservative on the bike and enjoyed the scenic course and then started feeling the heat on the run. He’s now back to training as he looks to double up that distance in a couple of months. Note: This will be the last year for the IM at CDA. The 1/2 will remain in place though at the end of June.
The Exploring Open Water Event is this Tuesday June 27th 7-830pm. There is still some space left! If you or anyone you know wants to attend this great info session / exploratory wetsuit swim Contact Us
Open Water Group Swim: Thursday June 29 and July 6: 7-8pm
Great White North Race is next weekend! Good luck to Doug H doing the duathlon!
Calgary 70.3 Race is July 23rd It’s not too late to register.
Thought of the week:
“You bring your own weather to the picnic”
Yes, this is so true. Whatever the event happens to be… a picnic, a race, any life situation, you are responsible for your attitude. I noticed this while volunteering at a recent race. The Mount and Dismount Line had to be moved last minute for safety reasons. This meant participants had to walk (or jog) with their bikes an extra 50 meters. I was at the mount line. It was interesting to see how some people complained about the surprise “long walk” while others smiled the whole way, and thanked us for keeping them safe. Think about the attitude you want to project!
Have a great week and always enjoy the journey!
