This snowy scene is NOT what you expect to see hours before a triathlon in May!
The Leaping Dog Racing Tri-Diva Tri held on May 3 had a great turnout despite the weather. Snowy conditions and unseasonably cold temperatures necessitated that this women only super sprint be turned into a swim-run aquathlon. 223 ladies travelled to Olds, AB to swim 275m and run 2.5k. LYNX had a great showing with Kari winning her age group and finishing 5th overall and Paula coming in 5th in her age group. Way to go ladies!
Friends and teammates Paula and Kari were all smiles before the swim.
The “Wild Rose Pedals” were ready to race despite the cancellation of the 11k bike leg.
More finisher smiles
Coach Mary, Tina, Rob and Shelley volunteered at the event. It’s important to give back to the sport!
Many participants were disappointed that they weren’t able to race all 3 legs but understood that their safety came first. If you missed this event but are interested in doing a women only sprint distance race check out Leaping Dog Racing’s Strathmore Sprint held in mid August. If you sign up for the race and want some structured training, contact firstname.lastname@example.org for information about a 14 week group training plan.
